Fuzzy Bare
Fuzzy on the palate, bare in its ingredients, big on sustainability.
Our client wanted to create a new brand that would tap into the rise of low/no alcoholic beverages and the health and wellbeing trend of consumers but would also be grounded in sustainability. He felt that the humble piquette had the potential to make another renaissance.
Piquette dates to ancient Greek and Roman times, but it enjoyed its first renaissance in the 19th century when phylloxera decimated French vineyards, making grapes so scarce every ounce of the precious fruit was used. Naturally light in alcohol, organic and vegan, this wine is made from bare grape skins (that otherwise would be waste) and has a gentle fizz.
And so it was the product nature that inspired the name: Fuzzy Bare – fuzzy cuing the fizzy/prickly taste profile, and bare referencing the grape source. With consumers recognising the need for zero waste, this wine style is bang on trend. It’s also low in calories and at 4% alc/vol, it is very sessionable.
Our creative approach was to have a mono pair: black for the Pinot Noir skins, and white for the Pinot Gris skins. Bold, characterful typography ensures excellent shelf stand out, and is contemporary, strong yet approachable.
