Sidekick
Personality-forward tonics for the modern gin drinker.
Naught Distilling wanted to create a distinctive, credible and highly memorable brand identity and packaging design for a range of tonics, that would also look more premium than Fever Tree. We also needed to communicate to consumers that this brand would be the perfectly balanced “Robin” to the “Batman”, being the gin itself.
We named the brand Sidekick (the “Robin” to “Batman”) and created characters that speak to the character of each mixer: Sublime with eyes closed, Cheeky giving a wink, Lively with eyes wide open, and Ginger Beer with eyes on fire.
The scales holding device communicates the balanced nature of these mixers which is repeated in the typography that balances each side of the logotype. The logotype has a small bubble in the C letter. Contemporary pastel-like metallic colours give modernity and premium cues, whilst the clean simplicity is a clear differentiator to the other competitors on the market.
