Chapel Down G&T

Cut glass, reimagined for the can.

RTD
Chapel Down’s Gin & Tonic RTD translates the brand’s iconic cut-glass spirits bottle into a premium canned format. Through precise use of silver substrate and tonal white printing, the design recreates the tactility and sparkle of the original bottle while retaining key brand assets such as the signature red line. The result is a refined, recognisable RTD that delivers continuity and craftsmanship across formats.

Chapel Down is England’s leading winery, and its gin - which was distilled from grapes - has become a celebrated extension of the brand’s craftsmanship. The proprietary 700ml gin bottle is instantly recognisable, featuring a distinctive cut-glass pattern across the lower half and Chapel Down’s signature red line, a core Distinctive Brand Asset, encircling the bottle.

For the launch of a gin and tonic RTD, it was essential that the new format felt unmistakably connected to the parent SKU. Our challenge was to translate the premium cues of the cut-glass bottle into the world of aluminium can printing, without compromising on elegance, tactility or brand recognition.

Our solution was a visual sleight of hand: recreating the bottle’s cut-glass effect on a silver can using a combination of reversed-out substrate and carefully modulated white tints. Achieving this level of detail within the technical constraints of can printing was no small feat, but it allowed the can to echo the sparkle and structure of the original bottle.

Chapel Down’s iconic red line was incorporated seamlessly, along with the rest of the brand’s DBAs, ensuring strong visual continuity across formats. The result is an RTD that feels premium, unmistakably Chapel Down, and proudly rooted in the design language of the masterbrand.
