When our client briefed us with a premium large format brand using classic Italian varietals of Fiano, Nero d’Avola and Sangiovese, our minds immediately flew to a long lunch table under shady vines. The wines were to be sourced in small parcels from traditional growers and using a slower, more gentle and rustic European style of winemaking. We came up with the name Winebasket to reflect both the generosity of the two litre bottle size and the hand-made nature of the wines. In earlier days wine was wrapped in raffia to protect the bottles, whose bases were rounded being hand-blown glass. Filled on the vineyard, everything about these bottles says family, friends and food.
